2008 Hybrid Trucks Review
Trucks are going green. Pickup trucks, once considered as American as apple pie have hit a slump in popularity in the wake of rising fuel prices and a sluggish economy. In lieu of this car makers are hoping to entice people with a line of hybrid trucks that will prove easier on the wallet than traditional trucks.
GM is going all out with the release of their 2008 GMC Sierra hybrid pickup trucks and the smaller, GMC Denali XT concept vehicle. GMC’s Sierra hybrid pick up trucks get 25% better fuel economy than the traditional model and the GMC Denali XT is expected to get even 50% better fuel economy than similar, gas guzzling small pickups.
Chevy is also onboard with the 2009 Chevy Silverado hybrid pickup truck. This full size hybrid truck gets 40% better gas mileage than the conventional Silverado and boasts a 6-liter V-8 engine with a towing capacity of 6,100 pounds. It is expected to sell in the low $30,000 range as is the GMC Sierra hybrid truck.
