How Does a Hybrid Car Engine Work
Hybrid car engines utilize both gas and a battery to keep your car running. If you’re curious to know how hybrid cars work, you will be pleased to know that it is actually pretty easy to understand.
First of all, hybrid cars only burn gas when it is needed. This is made possible by using both a gas powered engine and an electric motor. When driving at slow speeds or stopping the breaks must be tapped. This engages the electric motor, powered by rechargeable batteries at which time the gas engine is shut off.
If the electric motor’s batteries run low this is easily taken care of. The gas motor automatically recharges the batteries so that there is never a need to plug in or turn off the car to recharge.
Hybrid car engines also help the gas engine during acceleration by kicking into high gear. This uses less gas and makes it possible to use smaller, more eco-friendly engines.
